The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly set to conduct an in-depth review after the conclusion of the home season, with the current skipper, Babar Azam, expected to lose his captaincy in two of the three formats.

Sources close to the PCB have stated that the board is contemplating appointing different captains for each format of the game, and Babar Azam is likely to retain the captaincy in only one of them.

This decision comes on the heels of Pakistan’s recent performances in international cricket, which have been underwhelming.

The PCB is facing pressure to make changes in the national team’s management after a disappointing home season, which included a Test whitewash at the hands of England.

According to sources, the contracts of head coach Saqlain Mushtaq and bowling coach Shaun Tait are set to expire on February 9, 2023, and their futures with the team are uncertain.

In addition to coaching changes, the PCB is also considering changes in the team’s leadership.

Interim Chairman Najam Sethi’s decision to make Shan Masood the vice-captain is seen as a step towards potentially replacing current skipper Babar Azam as the captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team in ODI and Test cricket.

Shan Masood is being touted as a strong contender to take over as the team’s captain in ODI and Test cricket.

The PCB is expected to make some important and big decisions in the upcoming period, which includes captain, coach, bowling coach, and support staff.

The PCB’s review is expected to cover all aspects of the team’s performance, including player selection, coaching, and management.
