A case has been registered by the Azakhel Police Station in Nowshera against an overseas Pakistani for running campaign against armed forces on social media.
Police have identified the accused as Muhammad Umair, who is a resident of Muhallah Shangray in Azakhel Bala. Umair is currently working the United Arab Emirates.
The first information report (FIR) registered by the police has revealed that the accused was running a disparaging drive against the security forces on different Facebook accounts.
The overseas Pakistan has been charged under Sections 500 and 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code for defaming state institutions.
It should be recalled that a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf worker was recently jailed for three years and slapped with heavy fine.
The culprit Sikandar Zaman had posted defamatory tweets following the helicopter crash in Balochistan.
