A recent report by GlobalFirepower.com has ranked the world’s most powerful air forces, with Pakistan securing the seventh spot.
The ranking is based on the size and composition of aircraft fleets, including fighter jets, helicopters, and support planes. Pakistan’s air force operates a total of 1,434 aircraft, underscoring its strategic strength in the region.

The United States claimed the top position, boasting an unparalleled fleet of 5,737 helicopters, 1,854 fighter jets, and 3,722 support aircraft. With an annual defense budget of $800 billion, the U.S. accounts for nearly 40% of global military spending.
Russia and China followed in second and third places, respectively. Russia’s air force, though formidable, has faced significant losses, with 220 aircraft destroyed since the Ukraine war began in 2022.
China, on the other hand, has been aggressively modernizing its air capabilities, introducing advanced technologies like sixth-generation fighter jets and supersonic aircraft.
India ranked fourth with 2,296 aircraft, while South Korea and Japan took fifth and sixth places with 1,576 and 1,459 aircraft, respectively. Pakistan’s seventh-place ranking highlights its ability to maintain a robust air force despite regional challenges and resource constraints. Egypt, Turkey, and France completed the top ten, with 1,080, 1,069, and 972 aircraft, respectively.
The report highlights the shifting dynamics of global air power, with China rapidly advancing and Russia facing operational setbacks. Pakistan’s position reflects its commitment to maintaining a capable and resilient air force in a competitive landscape.
