Officials stated that the desilting process, part of the dam’s routine upkeep, will span the entire stretch from Khanpur Dam to the Sangjani filtration plant. During this time, the Sangjani central filtration plant will also be cleaned.
Authorities have advised residents, businesses, and commercial establishments to conserve water and arrange alternative sources. Those facing urgent water shortages can seek assistance from the Water Supply Branch.
A private contractor has been hired to carry out the desilting, using heavy and small-scale machinery to ensure thorough maintenance.
The water supply is expected to return to normal on February 23. Officials emphasize that this routine maintenance is essential for ensuring water quality and uninterrupted supply in the long run.
