The fast bowling duo of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf has been picked by Welsh Fire in The Hundred draft, which took place tonight.
Both Shaheen and Rauf had a reserve price of £100,000 and £60,000, respectively.
Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam was not picked by any team due to the busy schedule of Pakistan cricket team. He had the same reserve price as Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Before The Hundred draft, the organisers of the tournament had conducted a draft to find out the most popular player among the fans.
The Pakistan skipper came out on top by securing 25% of the total votes. However, he still couldn’t get picked just like last year’s draft.
Pakistan’s latest fast bowling sensation Ihsanullah got the reward for his great performances in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL).
He was picked by the Oval Invincibles for £40,000.
The left arm pacer was the player of the tournament in the PSL for taking 22 wickets with an Economy of 7.59.
Talking about Ihsanullah, former English cricketer Nasser Hussain said, “Ihsanullah is absolutely box office, he really is. 150 kph, player of the tournament in the PSL.”
“He will steam in and will give Oval Invincibles some pace that they absolutely need,” he added.
Furthermore, Birmingham Phoenix also retained all-rounder Shadab Khan for £100,000.
The Pakistani cricketer will be sharing the dressing room with players such as Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, and Liam Livingstone.
