The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 continues to provide us with some thrilling contests as we witnessed another high scoring game between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi in Rawalpindi.
The Babar Azam led side put up a mammoth score of 240/2 in 20 overs, with the skipper scoring a brilliant century off just 65 deliveries.
However, it was chased down with ease by the Gladiators with 10 balls to spare. English cricketer Jason Roy incredible power hitting made things easy for Quetta.
He scored an unbeaten 145 off just 63 deliveries. It wasn’t just a memorable win for his team but Roy also registered his name on top of highest individual run scorers’ chart.
Despite his maiden PSL hundred, Babar Azam came under criticism from former New Zealand cricketer, Simom Doull, who was on-air during the game.
Talking about Babar’s hundred, the Kiwi commentator said: “Rather than putting the team first… the last little while, that’s all that been happening. Rather than looking for boundaries, still so much firepower to come. Hundreds are brilliant, stats are great, but it has to be team first.”

Other than Babar, Saim Ayub also scored a brilliant 74 off 34 deliveries, and had 162-run partnership for the first wicket in just 13.3 overs, while Rovman Powell also scored a brisk 35 off 18 deliveries to help Peshawar reach 240/2 in their innings.
Although, the target seemed an uphill task but when Jason Roy took charge, runs started coming as easily as it could.
