A memo from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police’s so-called special branch has created a stir after it revealed that over 100,000 junior police officers are considering resigning en masse if the recent mosque attack is not thoroughly investigated.
According to the memo, the group “All KPK Police Junior Ranks” sent WhatsApp messages that form the basis for the memo.
The memo demands the formation of an unbiased joint investigation team to uncover those responsible for the attack and hold them accountable.
The attack resulted in the loss of over 100 lives, mostly of police officers. The junior police officers have united in their call for justice and issued a warning that if their demands are not met, they will “have to collect our dead every day.”
On Wednesday, police officers from different parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province took part in a protest march to show their condemnation of the recent mosque bombing in Peshawar.
Over 24 uniformed police personnel assembled outside the Peshawar Press Club and demonstrated for peace, calling for an independent investigation into the explosion at the police lines mosque.
The officers carried placards with various slogans expressing their desire to bring attention to the injustices faced by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.
This was an unprecedented move and believed to be the first of its kind.
