The federal government has recently unveiled the plan for when fees will be charged after approval has been given for the issuance of E-passports within the country.
The government has made public the fee structure for diplomatic, official, and regular passport categories.
The general population will receive E-passports only when their current ones expire.
Initially, electronic passports will only be issued in the capital city of Islamabad.
The schedule for when the service will be available in other cities will be announced at a later time.
The standard cost for a 36-page, 10-year electronic passport is set at Rs13,500, with an expedited fee of Rs22,500.
The standard fee for a 72-page, five-year electronic passport is set at Rs16,500, with an expedited fee of Rs27,500.
The cost for a 72-page, 10-year electronic passport is Rs24,750, and the fee for an urgent request is Rs40,500.
The fee for the passport can be paid through the National Bank of Pakistan, using the mobile app, MobiCash, and Easy Paisa.
