The Ministry of Science and Technology was informed by the Comsats University Islamabad (CUI) administration about sacking a lecturer who asked a highly inappropriate question in a paper.

The students of Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BEE) were shocked to read such a question on their paper in the most recent English exam.

Following was the question which led to the termination of the lecturer from his position.

“Julie and Mark are brother and sister. They are traveling together in France on summer vacation from college. One night they are staying alone in a cabin near the beach. They decide that it would be interesting and fun if they tried making love. At the very least, it would be a new experience for each of them. Julie was already taking birth control pills, and Mark uses a condom too, just to be safe. They both enjoy making love, but they decide never to do it again. They keep that night as a special secret which makes them feel even closer to each other.”

The students were asked to write a 300 words essay on the given topic. Furthermore, the students were also asked to include relevant examples from their own knowledge.

The Additional Registrar Naveed Ahmed Khan confirmed that the English Composition exam for BEE students comprised a highly inappropriate.

He added that the faculty member was called in the next day and asked to explain as to why he had included such a “ridiculous question” in the paper.

The English lecturer accepted his mistake and was sacked from his job.

Regarding the controversial question,  a faculty member said that it exposed the issues with the university’s examination system.
