This news has sparked excitement among cricket enthusiasts in both nations, as it would mark a rare instance of an Indian cricketer traveling to Pakistan for an international event. However, the Indian cricket board has yet to confirm Sharma’s participation, and India’s squad for the tournament remains undisclosed.
The Champions Trophy, featuring eight teams and 15 matches, is set to take place from February 19 to March 9. Matches will be held in Pakistan and Dubai, with the tournament operating under a hybrid model due to India’s decision to play at a neutral venue citing security concerns.
The much-anticipated Pakistan-India clash is scheduled for February 23 in Dubai. Hosts Pakistan will face New Zealand in the tournament opener in Karachi, while India will play Bangladesh in their first match on February 20 in Dubai.
The hybrid model agreement will also apply to future ICC events during the 2024-2027 cycle, including tournaments hosted by India and Pakistan.
