Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Lt. General (retd) Nazir Ahmad Butt, salary, benefits, and perks package have been approved by the federal cabinet.
A summary to determine the terms and conditions of the Chairman NAB, which are equivalent to those of a Supreme Court judge in Pakistan, was circulated by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, amended by the National Accountability 2nd Amendment Act, 2022 gives the federal government the authority to decide the Chairman NAB’s terms and conditions.
Following the approval of the federal cabinet led by PM Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman NAB Lt. General (retd) Nazir Ahmad Butt will receive a salary of 1.7 million rupees.
Furthermore, he will also receive a government residence, two vehicles, a two-kanals plot in the federal capital, 2000 units of electricity and 600 litres of petrol every month.
The newly appointed chairman NAB isn’t the first one to receive these perks and privileges but those before him also received the same.
These perks are equivalent to those given to a Supreme Court judge in Pakistan. Lt. General (retired) Nazir Ahmad Butt was given the all important position of NAB’s head on March 6th earlier this month.
