Sindh has expanded its e-challan system from Karachi to Sukkur and Hyderabad in a major step to improve traffic enforcement across the province. Provincial Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar announced the expansion and stated that the government is also conducting driving licence checks to strengthen road safety measures.

Lanjar acknowledged that computer system errors may occur but emphasized that the government is acting with clear intentions to modernize traffic management. He questioned criticism of the initiative, noting that the administration is working to build a more efficient system for the public.

Meanwhile, Karachi Traffic Police reported that the city generated more than Rs710 million in fines through over 93,000 e-challans issued in one month. Data shows that 57,541 violations were for not wearing seat belts, resulting in fines exceeding Rs570 million.

Motorcyclists also accounted for thousands of violations. Authorities issued 22,257 challans for riding without helmets, with fines crossing Rs111 million. Tracker systems installed on dumpers, trailers, and water tankers recorded 1,188 overspeeding violations, while private drivers received 2,699 challans for overspeeding.

Traffic Police also issued 3,102 challans for signal violations. Officers recorded 1,278 challans for fancy number plates and 1,178 for tinted windows, with both categories totaling more than Rs29.4 million in fines. Additional violations included 611 challans for stop-line breaches and 426 for wrong-way driving.

Traffic Police urged citizens to follow traffic rules, stressing that compliance protects all road users and reduces accidents.
