Pakistan’s batters delivered a record-breaking performance against South Africa in the third match of the tri-nation ODI series at National Bank Stadium, Karachi. The team successfully chased a 353-run target, marking its highest-ever run chase in ODI history.
Agha Salman played a brilliant innings, scoring 134 runs with 16 fours and 2 sixes, while captain Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten with 122 runs, hitting 9 fours and 3 sixes. Previously, Pakistan’s highest successful chase was 349 runs against Australia in 2022.

On home ground, Agha Salman and Mohammad Rizwan became the first Pakistani players to score centuries while batting at the fourth and fifth positions in an ODI match. This was the 27th instance where two Pakistani batters scored centuries in the same ODI game.
The duo also set a new record for Pakistan’s highest partnership in a successful run chase, adding 260 runs together. They surpassed the previous best of 228 runs by Mohammad Hafeez and Imran Farhat against Zimbabwe in 2011.
Their stand also became Pakistan’s highest fourth-wicket partnership in ODIs, breaking the 206-run record set by Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Yousuf against India in the 2009 Champions Trophy.
Agha Salman and Rizwan’s match-winning partnership was Pakistan’s third-highest for any wicket in ODIs, behind Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq’s 304-run stand and the 263-run partnership between Inzamam-ul-Haq and Aamer Sohail.
