The first consignment of state-of-the-art oxygen plants has arrived in Pakistan from Saudi Arabia.
According to federal officials, eight oxygen generating plants have arrived in Lahore from Saudi Arabia. One oxygen plant has the capacity to generate oxygen for 50 patients.
Officials say that the oxygen plants arriving from Saudi Arabia will be shifted to Islamabad tomorrow, while 50 more such oxygen plants will reach Pakistan by the end of the year.
According to federal officials, apart from Saudi Arabia, the Global Fund will also provide oxygen plants to Pakistan, while the National Disaster Management Authority is also going to buy such oxygen plants.
These plants will be installed in the remote hospitals situated in Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Officials say the oxygen plants will also be installed in small secondary care hospitals in Sindh and Punjab.
The Global Fund will provide 36 such plants wihile the Saudi government will send 18 oxygen plants.
