The Punjab cabinet has announced a province-wide speed limit of 60 km/h for motorcyclists as part of a new initiative aimed at enhancing road safety.
This decision was taken during the 22nd provincial cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday.

The cabinet also approved a registration campaign for all vehicles and mandated annual inspections for motorcycles after their first year. Charging stations for e-vehicles will also be established across the province.
Among other key decisions, the cabinet rejected renaming Gaddafi Stadium and approved the Punjab Hindu Marriage Act, Registration Rules 2024.
It stressed the need for urgent measures to boost cotton production and address climate-related declines in sugarcane yields.
Other initiatives include the Punjab Asaan Karobar Finance scheme, offering interest-free loans up to Rs30 million and free land for start-ups, with a target of 100,000 new businesses.
The cabinet expanded the Kisan card scheme to 750,000 farmers, increased the card’s cash limit by 30%, and confirmed the supply of 9,000 green tractors to farmers.
Additionally, funds for the dialysis programme were raised to Rs1 million, and a special court for overseas Pakistanis’ property cases was approved.
The cabinet also endorsed recruitment drives in education and the establishment of a cancer treatment institute under the Nawaz Sharif Institute Act 2024.
