Speed Limits and Ongoing Crackdown
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, the speed limit for cars on three-lane motorways is set at 120 km/h, while public service vehicles, including buses and vans, must not exceed 110 km/h. A special campaign is currently underway to monitor and take action against those violating speed regulations.
Authorities have intensified their surveillance efforts on national highways to ensure compliance.
Efforts to Reduce Accidents
To enhance road safety, the Motorway Police are also ensuring the installation of protective barriers along motorways. Many road accidents are caused by excessive speeding, despite repeated awareness campaigns warning drivers of the risks involved.
However, a significant number of motorists continue to ignore speed limits, leading to serious crashes.
Stricter Penalties Introduced
Previously, drivers caught speeding were issued routine fines, but under the new policy, vehicles exceeding 150 km/h will be confiscated, and drivers will face legal proceedings.
Authorities believe these strict actions will help reduce the number of accidents and improve overall safety on motorways.
