IG Punjab has set up a three-member committee to probe the indecent assault on a woman in Greater Iqbal Park, Lahore.

According to the notification, Additional IG Sardar Ali Khan will be the convener of the committee while DIG Yousuf Malik and SSP Ismail Amjad will also be a part of the committee.

The inquiry committee will determine the security arrangements at Greater Iqbal Park in view of the Independence Day crowd, the police response at the time of the incident, justification for the delay in registering the FIR, the committee said.

The committee will also investigate if there are any flaws in police response before or during the investigation.

On the other hand, DIG Operations Sajid Kayani visited the house of victim Ayesha Akram in Shahdara area where he expressed his sympathies with the girl.

Sajid Kayani on behalf of IG Punjab and CCPO Lahore assured Ayesha Akram of justice and said that Ayesha Akram’s bravery is a beacon for other girls.
