The list of loan apps blocked in Pakistan has finally been shared after relevant authorities swung into action.
Government came under criticism following the suicide of a 43 year old man due to the continuous blackmailing of an online app.
The Ministry of IT and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority took notice of the complaints and blocked 43 lending apps.
Furthermore, Google also took strict action and adopted a new policy to discourage scams in the name of loans.
Loan app companies now have to fill out a Personal Loan App Declaration form, submit a number of documents as well as a lending service approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
Earlier, the lending apps accessed the personal data of users in Pakistan and later blackmailed them through it. Now, following Google’s new policy, they won’t ab able to do so.
