As reported earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are mulling over giving rest to senior players including Babar Azam for the upcoming limited over series against Afghanistan.
In his absence, a new T20 captain will be appointed. However, things don’t look so simple as Babar along with Mohammad Rizwan have informed PCB about their availability.
Despite all this, the cricket board could still drop the senior players. At the moment, there are four names circulating in the local media to replace Babar Azam in the series against the Afghans.
One of them is fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi but there are also contrasting reports regarding him.
It is now being reported that he has also been advised to rest despite being the favourite to replace Babar.
According to Cricket Pakistan, Imad Wasim, Shan Masood, and Shadab Khan are in the race for captaincy for the T20 series against Afghanistan.
On Monday, Shaheen posted a picture with Babar and Rizwan to extend his support towards the two seniors.
