Former Japanese adult film star Kae Asakura, also known as Rae Lil Black, has announced her conversion to Islam after a visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2024.
Asakura shared her journey of faith on TikTok and in an interview with Singaporean podcaster Dzar Ismail. She explained that during her trip to Kuala Lumpur last August, she wore a hijab to visit mosques and engage with the Muslim community. She was deeply moved by the warmth and kindness she received.

“They were so, so nice to me. They welcomed me with open arms. So I was like, ‘Okay, these people are so nice. Why don’t I try to understand their culture?’” she said.
Asakura also shared her experience of fasting during Ramzan, posting videos of herself breaking her fast with followers. However, some social media users accused her of pretending to fast for attention. In response, she firmly denied these claims.
“I am fasting, first of all. I am taking care of my business, and I am putting my pure intention to Allah. So do not worry about me. Please focus on your life,” she stated in a TikTok video.
Addressing rumors that she was still active in the adult film industry, Asakura clarified that any newly released videos were filmed years ago and that she no longer has rights over them.
“Once I’m done filming, they have the right to publish whenever, so some videos are still not published yet, from years ago,” she explained.
Despite her past, Asakura has received overwhelming support from fellow Muslims. She shared that she was deeply touched by the acceptance and encouragement from people who gifted her dates, books, and a prayer mat from Mecca.
Earlier, Asakura had also visited Lahore, Pakistan, where she caused an online debate after visiting the Badshahi Mosque. Her presence at the historic religious site sparked speculation about her growing interest in Islam.
Her journey continues to draw attention, with many expressing admiration for her decision to embrace a new path in life.
