On February 15, Senator Ishaq Dar, the Minister for Finance and Revenue, introduced “The Finance (Supplementary) Bill, 2023” in the National Assembly.
Despite not yet receiving approval from the Lower House, cigarette prices have already increased by as much as 100%.
This increase is due to the proposed measures contained in the bill.
Included in the Supplementary Finance Bill are new taxes and duties on luxury items such as cigarettes, totaling Rs. 170 billion.
According to a notification issued by Ittehad Trading Company, the prices of the different brands of cigarettes are as follow:
