The cost of live broiler chickens and chicken meat has witnessed a dramatic rise in the past two weeks, with prices reaching record levels in Rawalpindi.
Market reports indicate that live broiler chicken prices have surged from Rs. 285 per kilogram to Rs. 530 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the price of broiler chicken meat has soared past Rs. 900 per kilogram, reflecting an increase of Rs. 450 per kilogram.
In the Rawalpindi poultry market, the price of live broiler chicken has exceeded Rs. 19,200 per mun (40 kilograms). Due to limited local farming, traders are sourcing chickens from other districts, further escalating costs.

According to market sources, the rise in prices is linked to supply shortages and increased demand. Additionally, higher feed prices, transportation expenses, and other operational costs have significantly contributed to the price hike.
