On February 6, Azam caught everyone’s attention with a cryptic post on his X account, claiming he had misplaced his phone and lost all his contacts. While some speculated it was a publicity stunt, others believed he was serious.

However, the cricketer remained focused on his engagements, making a public appearance at Gaddafi Stadium the following day.

The speculation was put to rest when it was revealed that the entire incident was a promotional strategy for Ufone 4G. After competing in the Tri-series opener against New Zealand, Azam’s advertisement for the telecom brand was released.

The commercial depicted him searching for his missing phone with the help of enthusiastic fans from different walks of life.

As the ad concludes, Azam finds his phone and showcases its standout features, particularly its strong data capabilities. This marketing approach closely resembles a campaign led by Indian cricketer Virat Kohli for Vivo in early 2023.

Azam will return to action on February 12, when Pakistan takes on South Africa at Karachi’s National Stadium. After a lackluster start to the series, fans are hopeful he will regain form, especially with the Champions Trophy fast approaching.
