Pakistan’s next international assignment is a five-match T20 and three-match ODI series in New Zealand, scheduled from March 16 to April 5.
However, reports indicate that some players may opt out of the tour rather than risk being dropped due to recent poor performances.
Champions Trophy Performance Raises Concerns
Pakistan’s disappointing campaign in the Champions Trophy has put several players under scrutiny. According to sources, senior officials in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are unhappy with the team’s performance, and some top players fear being axed from the squad.
Fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah, along with star batter Babar Azam, are among those reportedly at risk of being dropped.
To avoid the embarrassment of being officially left out, some players are said to be planning voluntary withdrawals from the New Zealand series.
With the series just weeks away, final squad decisions are expected soon, as the PCB weighs its options following the team’s underwhelming display in the Champions Trophy.
