A 22-year-old student, Usama Nadeem Satti, was shot dead by Anti-Terrorist Squad personnel in Islamabad last night.
According to media reports, Usama Nadeem Satti was returning back from Shams Colony after dropping off his friend. Farrukh Satti, cousin of the slain stident, said that ATS police personnel were on patrol in the area when they tried to stop the vehicle of Osama and when he did not stop, they indiscriminately shot him dead.
On the other hand, according to the police spokesman, when the police tried to stop the suspicious vehicle with tinted windows, the driver did not stop. The spokesman further said that after chasing the car up to G-10, they eventually shot fires at the tires of the car.
“Unfortunately, the bullets hit the driver and he died on the spot.”
Five policemen have been arrested in the murder case and further investigations are underway. Taking notice of the incident, IG Islamabad formed teams comprising SP Saddar and SP Investigation under the supervision of DIG Operations.
According to sources, a robbery call was made from Safe City to the Police Helpline in Sector H13 Paris City. CTD personnel tried to stop the car near Kashmir Highway G10 signal on suspicion. The security personnel fired indiscriminately after the car didn’t stop. Police alleged that the driver of the car fired at us instead of stopping.
A spokesman for PIMS said the young man was shot 22 times from the front, according to an autopsy. Talking to Express News, DSP Khalid Awan said that the slain Osama Satti was innocent. He went to the spot immediately after the incident but the the student had died.
