Former Pakistan cricket team captain and current coach and chief selector, Misbah ul Haq, has decided to step down as the chief selector of the national cricket team.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Misbah will make the announcement in a press conference later today.
Misbah remained the chief selector for over an year. He will continue his role as the head coach of national cricket team.
As per Pakistan cricket board, the new chief selector will start working from 1st of December and until then Misbah will remain the head of the selection committee. Pakistan cricket team’s squad for its upcoming assignments against Zimbabwe and the Kiwis will be announced by Misbah ul Haq.
The chief selector who will be taking over from Misbah will start his work by picking squads for two Tests and three Twenty20 Internationals against South Africa in January.
PCB in a press release said that Misbah had informed about his decision not to continue as the chief selector to MD PCB Wasim Khan last week. Talking at a press conference in Lahore this afternoon, he said that he made this decision after reviewing the last one year and considering the bulk of workload he has in the next two years. He thanked the cricket board for giving him the opportunity.
